Nearly 40 young people from Hackney and Islington took part in a half day session together in Hackney Downs on Monday, testing their skills and playing games before a trip to the training ground of their idols on Wednesday.

The Hitz rugby players travelled up to the Saracens training ground to take part in a fun but wet session on the training pitch with some of the players and Saracens legend Richard Hill before observing the 1st XV hard at work. Lunchtime allowed everyone to reflect on the mornings training with the Hitz and Saracens players eating together, having a chance to collect the very important autographs. The day was finished with a tour of all the facilities and a chance to pump some iron in the Saracens gym. Hitz coach and Met Police officer Gareth Hatherly-Hurford commented that 'it was a great experience for these young people from central London, not only getting to meet but train, eat and socialize with their heroes, what an awesome day'.

Friday saw all the young people converge on Caledonian Park in Islington to finish half term with a tournament and more opportunities to improve their skills. "

Hitz rugby sessions are for 11 to 19 year old boys and girls and are free.
